Specialist Equipment is available on loan from Children’s Services Central to eligible education and care services (excluding In-Home Care) to assist the inclusion of a child who has demonstrated ongoing high support needs in an education and care environment.
Accessing Specialist Equipment
Education and care service are able to work with their Inclusion Support Agency and the child’s therapist to request Specialist Equipment to support the child’s inclusion at the service by completing or updating their Inclusion Improvement Plan (IIP).
What is available?
Specialist Equipment includes items to:
- Improve access and mobility like adjustable tables, seating, positioning, communication aids or portable ramps.
- Increase participation with equipment for sensory processing and modulation, eg, weighted products, vibration devices or sensory games and resources.
- Maximise health and safety of educators manual handling, for example we loan hoists, slings and other lifting or transferring equipment like hydraulic change tables.
- Specialist equipment is recommended by a therapist. The therapist will contribute to an IIP and identify how the equipment enables or supports education and care - so every child can be included no matter what
