Administrator Birrelee Multifunctional Aboriginal Children's Service
“I don’t know about you but I think
often in Early Childhood when there is an approach
that is developed to fit all Early Childhood settings,
it doesn’t sit well, leaving me apprehensive. I
believe the diversity and difference in Australia’s
Early Childhood settings is to be embraced... any
efforts to advocate for a one size fits all model
should be rejected.
As an Aboriginal Early Childhood
Teacher, I read the EYLF asking, Got it in
Black?” |

| “Working
in the context of a Multifunctional Aboriginal
Children’s Service (MACS) we went on the
journey of interpreting its meaning for our cultural
context, yet again left sceptical of a framework
that was to work for all but not specifically for
us. As we continued to unpack the framework, through
training, discussions and mentoring, we were overwhelmed
with the cultural connections in the 3B’s
– Belonging, Being, Becoming.”
