Webinars are conducted via internet and phone with a
highly skilled trainer facilitating the session at the other end of the
computer and phone. Webinar participants view a PowerPoint presentation
delivered by the trainer on their service’s computer and are able
to interact, ask questions and share experiences with each other and the
trainer via a dialog box and/or over the phone line.
They are conducted during work hours, which gives staff the flexibility
to participate in training without leaving their service. Services
are charged per service, rather than being charged per participant;
several staff members from the one service are able to participate in the
same training session, so long as they use one computer.
A phone link up allows a number of children’s services to come together with a trainer via a telephone conference call. It is a way of participating in training without leaving your centre. All call costs are covered by Children’s Services Central.
Participants are required to pre register for the session. Additional phone link ups will be organised if more participants are interested. If there are two phone link ups in a series, they will be held a few weeks apart so that participants have time to reflect and think about questions that have come up in the meantime. Participants must take part in both link ups.
Children’s Services Central has produced a number of resource papers that were used in past phone link ups and have provided valuable information on a range of topics. These resources are listed below.
